Stephanie Sweet, M.D.


Dr. Stephanie Sweet Dr. Stephanie Sweet is a former Fellow of The Philadelphia Hand Center. She is the first female physician in The Hand Center’s history and brings to the practice an impressive list of professional accomplishments.

Born in Manhattan, Dr. Sweet received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University where she was awarded their Harvard Scholarship for Academic Distinction and graduated Cum Laude. She then enrolled in Mount Sinai Medical School where she studied in their general surgery program for two full years rather than the required one. When she moved on to Mount Sinai’s intense orthopaedic surgery program, she was honored to train under Dr. Dempsey S. Springfield, a renowned tumor specialist. Subsequently, Dr. Sweet received a Fellowship to study with the doctors of The Hand Centers. She returned to Mount Sinai following her Fellowship to work as a Clinical Assistant Professor there and at Elmhurst Hospital, its Level I trauma affiliate.

Dr. Sweet returned to The Hand Centers when the opportunity arose. At The Hand Center, Dr. Sweet has a full surgical and patient schedule. Additionally, she teaches and works with current Fellows. She has published numerous articles on the subject of hand surgery and is a member of the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Sweet is a dedicated runner and is proud to have participated in the Boston Marathon.
